Burlington grew quickly after the Second World War, and much of its housing dates from the 1950s to the 1970s, from established areas like Aldershot to newer north Burlington communities like Alton Village near Highway 407. Older homes often need updated supply lines, drains and flood protection, while newer homes need fixture upgrades and water heater service. Basement flooding is a real concern here: during the August 2014 storm, up to 192 mm of rain fell in parts of the city and more than 3,000 homes were affected. These are the jobs we see most often in Burlington:
A backwater valve, a reliable sump pump with battery backup and disconnected downspouts all help protect finished basements. Halton Region currently subsidizes 50% of an indoor backwater valve, up to $1,600, and offers other flood-prevention subsidies, so ask us about the paperwork.
Many Burlington homes from the 1950s to 1970s still have original valves, supply lines and fixtures. We replace worn parts and repipe when needed to restore water pressure and prevent leaks.
Some homes built from the mid-1970s to the late 1990s used polybutylene (Poly-B) pipe, and some homes built or renovated from about 1995 to 2007 used Kitec. Both have a history of failures. We inspect your lines and replace them with modern piping.
Slow drains, backups and tree roots in older sewer lines are common in mature neighbourhoods. We clear drains and camera-inspect sewer lines to find the problem, then clear or repair it.
Water heaters typically last around 10 to 15 years. If yours is leaking, rusty or running out of hot water, we will help you choose a replacement and install it properly.
Burst pipe, overflowing toilet or no water? Call (905) 336-8706 any time, day or night. A real person answers and we will get a licensed plumber on the way.
